O especialista em políticas públicas Gustavo Pessoti comentou nesta sexta-feira (21), em entrevista ao Jornal da Cidade, que o discussions surrounding the 6×1 schedule should not be limited to business costs perspective. According to the economist, job creation depends fundamentally on profitability expectations and the overall economic environment, not merely on labor regulations.
"Quanto maior a perspectiva de lucratividade para o empreendedor, maiores as chances de abertura de novas vagas", stated Pessoti. He also highlighted that reducing tax burdens or altering work schedules alone cannot expand employment if there is no growth in demand and investments.
In Pessoti's assessment, high interest rates and heavy tax burden directly impact business operations. "Se a demanda estivesse crescendo, os investimentos acelerando, a carga tributária mais leve e os juros mais baixos, talvez esse questionamento sobre a escala de trabalho não tivesse tanta importância", ele explicou.
Regarding productivity, the specialist warned that keeping workers active for longer hours does not guarantee higher output. "Não resolve ter um colaborador em escala 6×1 se a produtividade dele for inferior à que teria em um regime 5×2", pontuou.
Advocate of the 5×2 model, Pessoti defended a broader debate involving professional qualification, education and reducing turnover. For him, the real economic challenge lies in combining better working conditions with an environment that encourages investment and expands productive capacity.
