A capital baiana celebrou neste sábado (5) a conclusão de um amplo pacote de intervenções urbanas na comunidade de Paramana, situada na Ilha dos Frades. As obras, viabilizadas por meio de uma colaboração entre o poder público municipal e a Fundação Baía Viva, englobaram a recuperação completa do terminal hidroviário local, a abertura de um moderno centro gastronômico, a construção de uma quadra esportiva e a pavimentação de diversas ruas do bairro.
Os recursos aplicados nas intervenções totalizaram aproximadamente R$ 12 milhões. O objetivo central do projeto é proporcionar melhores condições de vida aos habitantes da região, ao mesmo tempo em que impulsiona o setor turístico e fortalece a economia local. Durante a cerimônia de entrega, o prefeito da cidade foi recepcionado por uma demonstração cultural realizada pelo grupo Angola União Livre.
Em discurso aos presentes, a autoridade municipal enfatizou a magnitude das benfeitorias implementadas. "Realizamos uma obra significativa de infraestrutura voltada ao turismo, contemplando um calçadão, um terminal hidroviário reformado, um pier e a recuperação de estabelecimentos comerciais como restaurantes e bares, além da criação de novos espaços para negócios. Isso certamente atrairá milhares de visitantes a Paramana e resultará em um aumento real da renda da população", declarou.

The new space includes restrooms, ticketing systems, turnstiles, and comfortable waiting areas for travelers arriving by boat. A highlight is the gastronomic center, featuring six restaurants capable of serving approximately 60 diners each, along with nine kiosks and six retail shops offering diverse culinary options from traditional dishes like moqueca to more contemporary fare like hamburgers.
The infrastructure improvements extended beyond the main tourist areas, with the municipal public works department coordinating paving projects on multiple streets, including Rua do Torto, Rua da Fonte, Alto Boa Vista, and Rua do Pende. New stairways were constructed to improve resident mobility, and drainage systems were implemented throughout the community. Local merchants received training from the Fundação Baía Viva, gaining skills in customer service, business management, and operational efficiency.
For longtime residents like Benedito da Cruz, a 67-year-old fisherman known as the "King of Crab", these improvements represent a promising economic opportunity. He believes the enhanced infrastructure will significantly boost tourism and increase sales for local businesses, building on the weekend visitors who already appreciate the island's charm.
The municipal government continues working to enhance infrastructure in Paramana, with plans for a new sports court and additional street paving projects underway. These strategic investments aim to create a more attractive destination for tourists while improving the quality of life for local residents, positioning the island as a key economic and cultural hub in the metropolitan area.
